I understand the critique of #DefundThePolice as a slogan, what I don’t understand is that it’s critics never say what they would do instead. “It’s a bad slogan, so let’s leave policing as it is” is a thousand times worse than any slogan.

I'm warming up to #DefundThePolice framing everyday. I already largely agree with the substance. Murder clerance rate is about 64% in the country, used to be 90% in 1950's & is near 100% right now for cops who are killed. Rape clearance is a pathetic 32%. Do your goddamn jobs.

I'm done. I'm now supporting #DefundThePolice 100%. I already largely agreed with the substance of the argument & now I'm down for the framing, too. There is no reform or transformation that can fix this. We have to start over and completely rebuild policing in this country. - Cenk Uygur - Twitter
