Last week, the World Economic Forum (WEF) hosted a conference for global politicians, activists, and other prominent figures in Dubai. They decided to give it an explosive name — The Great Narrative Meeting. Eager to appear as grandiose and as ambitious as possible, the meeting’s point was to steer the very direction of the world’s political, social, and technological development. According to the WEF:

“The Great Narrative meeting is a linchpin of the Great Narrative initiative, a collaborative effort of the world’s leading thinkers to fashion longer-term perspectives and co-create a narrative that can help guide the creation of a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable version for our collective future.”
