The BBC has published an article tacitly endorsing a move to a ‘low-carbon revolution’, which it claims can be achieved with only a reasonably low price tag. The piece, however, is strongly suggestive and misleading. It omits the important context of the issue, whereby misrepresenting the actual nature of the proposed emission plan.

The article is based on a report by the Climate Change Committee (CCC). It claims that

“...for less than 1% of national wealth, the UK can reduce 78% of emissions by 2035, based on 1990 levels. This brings forward the UK’s clean energy timetable by 15 years - a previously unimaginable leap.”

This framing (as well as the continuation of the article) suggests that new methods for emissions reduction have been found, which can relatively painlessly perform near miracles.
