PREMIUM DOCUMENTARY: The Death Of Man

What happens when man's reason is used as a weapon to slice through the accumulated detritus of ignorant and benighted ages and into the glorious new world of Enlightenment? The old is cleared away and the space is created for the new, but at what cost? Does reason itself have sufficient capacity to create a comprehensive world for man to exist as man, or does he become something else? In slaying God and creating a clockwork universe that operates on its own mechanisms, have we, in fact, cut away something about ourselves and reduced man to merely a flesh automaton whose only goal is the satiation of his base desires? Can reason break free of the passions, or will it come full circle to re-enslave us into a worse condition that we previously inhabited? Moreover, what does the future hold for the new rationalist man living in the end of history and what will become of the last men at the end of this project? It could be that we are merely witnessing the long drawn-out process that is the death of man.
