On February 8th, Republican US Congressman Thomas Massie announced:

Even in the absence of any other recent statements on this issue by Massie, the proclamation has generated commotion on social media. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of the 8 other co-sponsors of the resolution, added only a few lines of explanation:

“Education decisions should be made by parents and educators at the local level, not by unelected bureaucrats in Washington, DC.”
