Antifa Suspected of Arson Attack on AfD Youth Chairman

The chairman of youth for the Berlin division of the conservative Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has become the victim of a suspected arson attack.

Vadim Derksen, who was previously interviewed by in November 2020 following a bottle attack by Antifa militants which left him with a stab wound, took to Facebook on Tuesday to ask for help after his “family vehicle fell victim to an arson attack.”

The attack, which also damaged a neighbour’s car, comes amid heightened tensions in the lead-up to next week’s German federal elections.

In a separate attack, the husband of another AfD politician was left with head lacerations and a concussion over the weekend after falling victim to Antifa demonstrators who attempted to disrupt an election campaign event at the private property of local candidate Nicole Jordan. A new website, due to be launched at 18:00 on Thursday, will aim to support the victims of such violence enacted by far-left extremists in Germany.

A fundraiser created by Vadim in the wake of the arson attack to help cover the €10,000 worth of damage to his and his neighbour’s vehicles quickly reached its target, with Vadim pledging on Facebook to donate the remainder of the contributions to charity.
